Kevin Scianni is a Los Angeles based painter and art instructor. He received his AA-T in Studio Arts from Mount San Antonio College in 2005, his BFA in Drawing and Painting  from California State University, Fullerton in 2008, and his MFA in Studio Arts from Claremont Graduate University in 2010.

Scianni’s studio work considers the nature of painting and pictorial space in the digital age. Scianni’s creative practice is driven by the combination of traditional painting with digital graphics techniques, merging the languages of both. The painting process often begins with photographs that are manipulated and combined digitally to build a composition. Basic digital techniques are employed such as layering, copying, pasting, transforming, cropping, and color fills, etc. The compositions evolve through a back-and-forth between the computer and the painted image. These visual languages are not entirely compatible, resulting in compositions that develop in unforeseen ways. The paintings are intended to highlight an evolving sense of space and place in the twenty-first century as digital technologies increasingly mediate everyday activities. The paintings embody a place where the distinction of the digital is increasingly nebulous.

In addition to his studio practice, Scianni also teaches foundation art classes at Coastline Community College and Orange Coast College in Orange County. Since 2015, he has taught courses in composition and art appreciation. Scianni has contributed to several campus programs that help foster a strong arts education including the Early College Credits program for local high school students, the Hope Scholars program that serves students who are currently incarcerated, and the Giles T. Brown Research and Project Symposium, a multi-disciplinary event at Orange Coast College that showcases student work.

Scianni has shown his art in various solo and group exhibitions at a range of commercial and college galleries including Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion, Coastline Art Gallery, Ann 330 Gallery, PØST, Ruth Bachofner Gallery, Coachella Valley Art Center, GLAMFA 2010, and the Palos Verdes Art Center.
